Homemade Antiseptic Cream

“Doctor, is there any home remedy for treating minors cuts and boils at home?”

Yes, you can make a simple homemade antiseptic cream using following proven natural anti-septic ingredients:

  • Raw honey
  • Turmeric
  • Neem
  • Tea tree oil

I have chosen theses ingredient based on the research (references listed at the end) and tried on many occasions with successful results. In fact, you SHOULD use this natural antiseptic cream as first resort at home to reduce the chances of resistance. You can always shift to antiseptics like Betadine or Neosporin, if this anti-septic cream does not work. So let us get started!

How to make home made anti-septic cream?

The recipe is simple. All you have to is mix the ingredients as shown in this video:

Mix following ingredients in a clean and dry air-tight container:

How to store home made anti-septic cream?

This homemade antiseptic cream can be stored at room temperature for 1-2 weeks and in the refrigerator for 3-6 months. The only precaution is to keep it completely dry. Honey is hygroscopic in nature and has a tendency to absorb water, so make sure you close the bottle carefully after using this recipe.

How to use?

  • Wash and completely dry your hands to avoid water and germs get into this antiseptic cream.
  • Take a small amount of this cream with the index finger and put it on cuts, boil or wound.
  • Alternatively, you can use a small spoon to take out this antiseptic cream from the container.
  • Apply this cream over cut, boil, or fever blister.
  • Cover with bandaid or micropore, this to avoid staining of cloths with turmeric in this cream.
  • Remove the bandaid while bathing and wash the wound with soap and water.
  • Dry the wound completely.
  • Put this antiseptic cream for 3-7 days to both prevent and treat any infection in wounds.
  • Discontinue this cream and shift to betadine if you notice signs of infection like pain, redness or pus discharge.

Where can I use this antiseptic cream?

You can use this antiseptic cream on following:

  • minor cuts
  • boils and other bacterial infection
  • fever blisters
  • pimples

What are the side effects?

You might get allergic or sensitivity rash with this cream if your skin is prone to allergy. So, I would recommend a patch test before the first use especially in sensitive skin.
