How to use this table?

All you need to do is see the problem area of your face in the given photograph, look for number and name of the aging change that relates to you, and find the solution against that number in the table. For example, if your problem area is around the eye, there are two changes in this area- crows feet and under eye wrinkling (numbered 4 and 5 in the picture), look for the solution for the same under serial no. 4 and 5 in the table.

The list of cosmetic procedures to deal with aging face is inexhaustible; here we will discuss the most common ones only:

  • Chemical peels: This involves the application of active skin ingredients in a concentration higher than that found in topical medicines.  Depending on the composition, the effects are varied, but the general principal is to accelerate shedding dead skin cells, followed by formation of new rejuvenated skin layer. Series of superficial peels can reduce fine line, dark spots and give an even-toned look. For drastic change in aging skin, deeper peels were done, but with the advent of safer procedures like Fraxel LASERS, they are no longer used.
  • Microdermabrasion: This involves scrubbing of the face with crystals to remove dead skin cells to give a smooth and fresh look but does not reduce wrinkles.
  • Derma-rollers: They help in skin tightening by stimulating collagen synthesis and remodeling. However, the results might be too subtle to be appreciated.
  • LASERS: Fractional LASERS like Fraxel, Fraser, Fractionated CO2 LASERS, etc. help in rejuvenating skin by stimulating collagen synthesis and remodeling. The effects are appreciable in the form of smoothening of skin, reduction of fine lines and skin tightening.
  • Botulinum toxin: Injection of this toxin are placed into muscle responsible for producing dynamic wrinkles that appear on frowning, smiling and raising forehead. For example, the crows feet that appear on smiling around your eyes do not appear after taking this injection, but, however, the results lasts for 4-6 months only.
  • Fillers: As the name suggests they are used to feel deep static wrinkles and furrows like Naso-labial fools, marionette lines, etc. Fillers are now days also used to enhance the beauty by giving shape to lips, cheeks, nose etc.
